FARMING For nature

Our Approach to Farming with Nature

The principles of organic farming are based on building healthy soils, nourishing plants naturally without chemicals and synthetic fertilisers and upholding the highest standards of animal welfare. Our livestock live outside all year, are free to roam and graze on what naturally grows around them.

Certified Organic & Regenerative Practices

We are proud to be certified by the Soil Association, following strict organic farming principles that sustain the health of ecosystems, soils and people. We do not use artificial inputs but rather rely on nature’s processes and cycles.

Grazing & Herd Management

Our Red Ruby Devon and Highland cattle, Tamworth and Iron-age pigs and Exmoor Horn sheep play a crucial role in restoring the land. Through different grazing patterns our livestock encourage diverse plant growth, naturally fertilise the soil, and eat a rich and varied diet, from hedgerows and fields, to riverbanks and woodlands. This method ensures high-welfare, low-impact farming, producing the highest quality, delicious meat.

Reconnecting People to Food & Nature

Farming is more than just food production; it’s about restoring balance to the land and bringing people closer to where their food comes from. At Belmont, we believe in the importance of reconnection, offering meaningful ways for people to engage with food, farming and the land. These include guided nature walks, seasonal talks, farm-to-table experiences, and an online shop where our organic meat can be purchased.

By farming in harmony with nature, we produce some of the finest meat in the UK. Our slow-grown, pasture-fed cattle and sheep produce nutrient-dense, flavour-rich beef and hogget. Each cut reflects our dedication to quality, sustainability, and ethical farming.
